A Love for Dogs Leads to a Raw Discovery

The Wild Canine® didn't start as a business. It started with our dogs.

Our journey began with our Snorkie, Mini. After several vet visits and recurring gall bladder stones, we started asking tough questions about what was really in her food. What we found was alarming: the pet food industry is poorly regulated. Words like "natural" and "premium" have no legal meaning, and far too many products are packed with fillers, vague proteins, and synthetic additives.

So we made a change. Switching Mini to a raw diet changed everything — her stones disappeared, her energy soared, and she truly began to thrive. Years later, when our red retriever, Teegan, was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, we turned to a raw ketogenic diet to support his immune system. That choice gave him a real chance — and he's doing wonderful.

But our mission didn't stop there.

As pet owners, sourcing high-quality raw food locally was frustrating. There was no dedicated raw food retailer in our area, so we cobbled together items from multiple stores — costly, time-consuming, and inconsistent. We live in Alachua County, a region rooted in agriculture, yet our pet food wasn't being sourced from our local farms. That disconnect inspired us to create The Wild Canine® — a business built on transparency, convenience, and community.

• Local first, always. Sourcing close to home means fresher food, fewer food miles, and a supply chain we can stand behind.
• Whole-animal, nose-to-tail nutrition. Roughly 200 lbs of usable meat is discarded for every cow processed. By using organ cuts and nutrient-dense parts that often go to waste, we honor the whole animal — and give your dog the foods they're built to thrive on.
• Strengthening local agriculture. There are around 1,700 local Alachua farmers who can make a difference in your dog's life. Every order helps keep that agricultural economy strong and sustainable.
